A Note from Dr. Blanc
The spring semester is well underway. I am teaching General Epistles and enjoying classes with our students. James encourages us to practice a “living” faith, unlike “dead” orthodoxy. I’m delighted by the students’ questions and our classroom interactions. “How can we be joyful when experiencing trials?” Joy is the result of living by spiritual realities and not by emotional responses. In other words, the “joy” to which James refers is faith fixed on spiritual truths. Joy is not an emotional response to one’s circumstances. This is why James commands us to be joyful before the trial that hems us in on all sides occurs. That “hole” will appear without notice, and we will “fall” into it without warning. I’m paraphrasing James 1:2, of course. Joy considers God to be applying resistance, and faith responds with trust. The result? Patience, endurance, character. We are becoming all God wants us to be. It’s okay to have pressure, so long as the pressure presses me toward God.
It is Snowcamp season, and the students are actively involved. Please pray as our students counsel the hundreds of campers who attend the weekly camps. Pray that the campers will come hungry to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and place their faith in Him. One of our online students, Brandon Joy, stopped by my office for prayer. Brandon is a Word of Life missionary. He was heading to the Philippines for a short-term mission. Seeing our students passionate about serving Christ and stepping out in faith to make Him known is a blessing. This is “living” faith. James would be pleased. He wrote, “But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourselves” (Jas 1:22 NET).

Snowcamp!
This season ushers in the exciting start of Snowcamp at Word of Life Youth Camp in New York. With a mission to share the Gospel and lead youth to know Christ as their Savior, Snowcamp is a powerful ministry opportunity. Davis College students are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents, taking on key leadership roles such as Coordinators, Assistant Coordinators, Lead Counselors, and more. These weekends not only allow our students to serve others but also to grow as leaders and strengthen their walk with the Lord through impactful ministry.

Student Feature – Andrew Berry
“The concentration and degree I’m currently working towards is Pastoral Ministry with an emphasis on Biblical Exposition. While completing my degree, I also work at First Baptist Church of Gleneste as an intern with their young adult ministry. Being a Davis College online student has helped me become a constant learner. Not only do I get to serve and participate in a unique ministry here at my church, but I also get to sharpen my knowledge and learn so much through Davis College. Both the internship and my classes at Davis have been key in my walk with God, gaining the head knowledge through my classes and then putting it into action through teaching, discipleship, and even in planning events and outreaches.”
Student Life
January and February are filled with ministry opportunities for our students. Many are actively involved in Snowcamp, a Word of Life Winter Camp for middle and high school students. Balancing academics and ministry, our students attend classes Tuesday through Friday, then serve from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon as 300-400 campers arrive each weekend. They take on leadership roles such as Lead Counselors and Outdoor Activities Team Leaders, guiding campers through activities and spiritual growth. Each weekend, students hear a Gospel presentation on Friday night and are challenged to dedicate their lives to Jesus on Sunday morning. Please pray for our students—pray they manage their time well, stay faithful in their relationship with Jesus, and remember that true ministry only bears fruit when rooted in Him. Student Ministry
“At Davis, I serve as a Resident Assistant (RA) and Outdoor Assistant Coordinator for Snowcamp. As an RA for the past four months, I’ve used my studies in Biblical Counseling to support and guide students in my suite. As an Outdoor Assistant Coordinator, I organize the outdoor crew for Snowcamp, managing activities like tubing, archery tag, broom ball, and more. This role has strengthened my organizational and leadership abilities. My time at Davis College has been transformative, equipping me to lead effectively and support the spread of the Gospel. Whether counseling students or working behind the scenes, I aim to create meaningful opportunities for the Gospel to reach others.”

Concentration: Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry Concentration at Davis College exists to equip youth leaders by informing their minds, inspiring their hearts, and integrating their behavior so that they may guide today’s youth past a life of superficiality to embrace the depths of genuine intimacy with God. Graduates of this concentration will be prepared to serve as youth ministry leaders in churches, camps, youth ministry organizations, and community service organizations.

Open Air Evangelism/Missions Reality
Our students are embracing impactful opportunities through Open Air Evangelism and Missions Reality. In NYC, Davis College students lead groups to share their faith in the heart of the city. Others venture overseas for short-term mission trips, serving communities and spreading hope. These experiences deepen their faith and leadership skills!
