A Note from Dr. Blanc

“Service in Snow”

During this midwinter period of the semester, it’s important to remember that the Lord’s work in us doesn’t stop just because the days are long or the weather is cold (here in the Northeast!). Scripture encourages us, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). As a college family, February becomes a time to quietly persevere in study, service, and discipleship, trusting that God is using these ordinary days to shape extraordinary faith and faithfulness for a lifetime of ministry. Please remember our students serving each weekend at Snow Camp in prayer, asking the Lord to refresh their spirits, protect their health, and use their witness to draw many young people closer to Christ. As you pray for Davis College and our students, also consider giving to the Operation Full Harvest Scholarship Fund to help support those preparing to serve Christ and His church, many of whom lack the resources to do so on their own.

As we celebrate this season of giving, consider how your support for our scholarship fund can extend that same grace to aspiring leaders — students who are called to make Christ known in their worlds. Every gift, no matter the size, helps remove barriers to biblical education and equips the next generation. Donations can be made securely online at Davis College.

Snowcamp & Valentine’s Sale

Our Snowcamp season with Word of Life has been a huge success so far! We have had students serve at three different locations in the states — New York, Ohio, and Michigan. There has been so much life change with these campers and so many souls now guaranteed eternity with the Lord!

Our February month is known very well for our carnation sales! We sell carnations before Valentine’s Day, and all the money that we raise goes right back to our students. This year it was a hit!

“I am a senior at Davis College. I came to Davis purely by God’s divine work. After completing my first year at Word of Life Bible Institute in New York, I soon found out that Davis offered solid teaching grounded on biblical truth and offered it for a very reasonable price! I decided to transfer to Davis to pursue a concentration in Organizational Leadership just before classes started, and somehow everything worked out by God’s grace. Despite my constant curiosity about where God wants me in the future, I have not regretted being here one bit. The teaching and environment have grown me as a person and helped me admire Jesus and what He has done for me more than ever before. My classes have taught me not to shy away from responsibility and to lead others by example whether or not I have the official title of a leader. Lastly, I can see myself using what I have learned about leading others in my future endeavors as a businessman, husband, father, or friend.”

“I oversee marketing production and am an admissions counselor for Davis College. I handle Davis photography, social media, and other marketing materials for on-campus events. As an admissions counselor, I focus on bringing second-year students from WOLBI to Davis. I also plan student life events for our Davis students like game nights, tournaments, and movie nights.

I went to WOLBI for my first year at the New York campus during the 2021–22 school year, which was one of the first years after Davis joined Word of Life on the New York campus. A majority of my friend group from first year ended up continuing to second year and then to Davis.

In September, I graduated from Liberty University with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, and it lined up perfectly with the job posting going up. I have seen God’s hand throughout the process of moving from Maine to New York, with my husband and me both being able to find jobs and an apartment becoming available right when we were moving.

I have enjoyed my new church here and seeing some of our Davis students there as well. I have loved every day of my job. I enjoy the marketing side of things but really enjoy connecting with our students at student life events and around campus.”

CCI Spotlight – Isaac Alesia

“I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Religious Education, majoring in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Pastoral Ministry and Bible Exposition. I am presently serving with Word of Life as a cross-cultural intern in the country of Nicaragua.

My studies at Davis College have deeply impacted my work as a missionary by grounding my ministry in sound and faithful biblical interpretation. The emphasis on Scripture and ministry leadership has shown me ways I can approach teaching, outreach, and cross-cultural service.

What I have learned at Davis will continue to guide me throughout my time on the mission field, equipping me to serve with clarity, humility, and faithfulness to God’s Word, regardless of context.

Please pray for language learning, because I currently don’t know Spanish. Pray for wisdom, endurance, and spiritual fruit as I serve, as well as for the people and ministries in Nicaragua to be receptive to the Gospel and strengthened in Christ.”

In prayer,

-Isaac Alesia

Alumni Feature – Jeremiah Knisley

I graduated from Davis in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Religious Education, Biblical Studies, and Christian Ministry.

I work as an AV Manager with Answers in Genesis, where I lead a small team of audio-visual technicians running daily operations involving AV technology at the Creation Museum and our other attractions from time to time.

My time with Davis College taught me a lot about what it means to teach somebody well. In writing out my philosophy of education, I learned about the importance of teaching my team how to take on certain tasks in ways that helped them take the concepts they needed to know and turn them into practical experience they can build on without my guidance.

One of my favorite memories during my studies is watching one of the lectures while holding my newborn son, Oliver, in my arms. It was a sweet time of enjoying being a new father and wrapping up my degree simultaneously.

Student Life

For our students, the months of January and February are jam-packed with ministry opportunities. Most of our on-campus students are heavily involved with Snowcamp, a Word of Life Winter Camp for middle and high school students.

Snowcamp season is stretching in a lot of ways. Our students attend classes throughout the week (Tuesday–Friday) as they normally do. But from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, between 300–400 middle and high school students come for a weekend of Winter Camp.

Our students are given a variety of leadership positions each weekend, from Lead Counseling to being an Outdoor Activities Team Leader. During the weekend, these middle and high school students hear a Gospel presentation (Friday night), are challenged to dedicate their lives to serving Jesus (Saturday night), and are commissioned to bring the Gospel to their friends (Sunday morning).

As our students participate in weekend ministry until the beginning of March, I ask that you pray for them. Pray that they manage their time well between schoolwork and weekend ministry. Pray that they are faithful in their relationship with Jesus, abiding in Him, knowing that any ministry endeavor apart from Jesus will not produce fruit. Thank you in advance!

Concentration Highlight – Intercultural Ministries

This concentration is designed to give both a general overview of the whole field of missions and a specialization that will enable students to function effectively in the missions area of their choice. The program has been designed for individuals planning to serve cross-culturally.

Student Ministry

My ministry as a Davis student is serving at my home church youth group as a youth leader. I have also been a member of the transportation team partnering with Word of Life, and that has been an amazing opportunity to serve.

My youth class at Davis has been going through many practical topics that I have been able to apply to real-life scenarios. I have applied those lessons as I work with the youth at my church, and it has been very helpful. Even through our general classes, I have been able to take what I have learned about the Word and apply those truths as well.

I plan to use what I have learned at Davis by being, Lord willing, a youth pastor in a church and overall being content wherever the Lord places me to do His ministry.
