As summer unfolds, many of our students are faithfully serving in camps, churches, and ministries across the region – using their gifts to proclaim the hope of Jesus Christ. Their willingness to go, to lead, and to love reflects the heart of Paul’s exhortation in Romans 10:15, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” These moments of ministry are not only formative for those they serve, but also deeply shaping for our students as they step into their calling. At Davis College, we are committed to preparing students for a life of faithful gospel witness. Our summer season has officially begun and is in full swing! Our Davis students are serving in numerous locations this summer, whether that be their hometown, the west or east coast, or overseas! Student Camp Testimony – Tim Brame
My name is Tim Brame, and I am currently serving at Word of Life Jenness Park this summer as a cook and worship band member.
After completing my first year in Davis, I have been able to directly apply what I’ve learned in my counseling and other classes to conflict resolution with other team members and disciple camp crew teenagers. Working in a small group of people can have its challenges, so I am very grateful to have that preparation.
I hope this summer I am able to grow in obedience to the Lord and take full advantage of every opportunity to resemble Christ well to others.

Staff Feature – Jared Maxwell
I am an admissions counselor for Davis College. I focus on bringing students of all ages and backgrounds to our school, whether that is our main campus, a satellite campus, or online. I was first introduced to Davis through my grandparents, who attended when it was called Practical in the 70s. I attended Davis starting in the fall of 2021, graduated in 2025, and started working for Davis in June of 2025.
My favorite part of the job is getting to talk with students, hear their stories, and help serve them through the application process, or other means of help with different systems. Like Psalm 133:1 says, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity,” it is awesome to work with a group of students who have a passion to know God better, to serve God, and to work towards getting a degree to pursue ministry further.
God has been working in my life through the opportunities I constantly have to serve others, and to show His love and light. Being in this position, I can integrate faith and work, being able to encourage students and staff. I am able to serve Him in return by working with integrity and humility, trusting that everything I do will make an impact somewhere for someone.

CCI Spotlight – Moses Temo
I serve as the Field Director for Word of Life, Papua New Guinea. I have been a missionary for 19 years, with 13 years in a leadership role. My ministry involves leading our team, overseeing ministry activities, mentoring leaders, and helping fulfill our mission of reaching and discipling young people for Christ.
My studies at Davis College have helped me by providing practical knowledge and biblical principles that I can apply in everyday ministry. The classes have helped me better understand my strengths and weaknesses and have encouraged me to grow spiritually and personally. They have challenged me to become a better Christian, husband, father, and leader.
The lessons on leadership, stewardship, teamwork, and personal growth help me lead more effectively. Applying these principles has strengthened our ministry and helped our team accomplish our mission and goals more effectively.
Alumni Feature – Tawny (Amarosa) Austin
My Teaching English as a Second Language degree has opened doors for ministry in ways I could have never imagined. I’ve taught English on the international mission field while living in Honduras, on short-term mission trips that my husband Luke (also a Davis alum, Class of 2016) and I lead, and in domestic ESL settings here in the United States.
Over the past few years, I’ve pioneered English as a Second Language ministries in Central Florida, working with lower-income and marginalized communities and helping local churches start their own outreach programs. I currently teach English weekly through our church and also in the public adult education system, which has been both a ministry opportunity and a way to help provide for our family as we serve.
God has also used my education and experience to equip me to mentor others who want to start ESL ministries or pursue TESL as a career or missionary path. Beyond my major, the strong foundation in Bible and Theology at Davis continues to shape how I teach, mentor, and communicate – whether I’m leading children’s ministry, walking alongside young adults, or using my voice online for Christ. Classes like Cultural Anthropology especially influenced how I see and serve the world, helping fuel my involvement in the Fair Trade movement and in efforts to fight extreme poverty and human trafficking.
Today, my husband and I serve part-time with Children’s Bible Ministries, coordinating and leading mission trips that connect believers to what God is doing around the world. We’re hoping to serve full-time in this role in 2026, and are currently raising support. You can follow our journey, read updates, and learn how to partner with us at www.austinsabroad.com.

Concentration Highlight – One-Year TESL Certificate
The One-Year Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language is a 24-hour, two-semester program that provides the specialized courses that are also part of the BRE degree program concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language.
Upcoming Events
Graduation is coming up very soon! Our Davis College students will be graduating on Saturday, August 15, on our campus in Pottersville, New York. Our students have worked hard over the years to obtain their respective degrees. We ask you to continue keeping our students in prayer this summer as they finish up classes and move on to their next steps in life!
