A Note from Dr. Blanc
“Jesus said, ‘Let not your hearts be troubled!’” He commanded this of His disciples after revealing that one of them would betray Him. Put yourself in their shoes. John asked, “Lord, who is it?” (John 13:25), while Peter boldly claimed, “I will lay down my life for you” (John 13:37). Meanwhile, Judas was clutching the money bag (John 13:39).
Such was the dramatic scene in the Upper Room, but more importantly, such was the turbulent scene within the disciples’ hearts (John 14:1). The verb tarassó refers to being agitated and tossed about. Do you ever feel this way in the face of uncertainty? The same verb describes the disciples’ reaction when Jesus walked on the water toward them (Matthew 14:26).
In John 14:1, the grammar of Jesus’ command is essentially, “STOP allowing your hearts to be troubled!” What follows is a series of rhetorical claims:
“You believe in God” (Don’t you?).
“You also believe in Me” (Don’t you?).
Jesus has revealed himself as the “I am” of God in his life and witness. John has recorded this faithfully (John 6:35 [bread of life]; 8:12 [light of the world]; 10:9 [door of the sheep]; 10:11 [good shepherd]; 11:25 [resurrection and the life]) with the “way, truth, and life” (John 14:6) and “true vine” (15:1) remaining to close the Discourse.
How could the disciples hear Jesus teach, experience his miracles first-hand, encounter his presence daily, and possess hearts as turbulent as raging seas? It doesn’t add up! How can we? Indeed, we are frail creatures. Yet, we are loved tenderly by One who knows us and intends to lead us unscathed through this ever-changing world. Confident in our God, we face uncertain times. This is living faith. It lives in the crucible. We are finishing the Letter of James in my General Epistles class this week. We have translated through the letter and applied the insights of James. This is part of our mission as a college: to prepare students competent in Biblical truth. Students with feet firmly planted on the Word of God will stand firm amid the storms of life and endure a lifetime of testing in ministry.

Students Are Back from Spring Break!
Our students have returned from Spring Break for the final two months of school! These months are packed with exciting opportunities and events. Students have the chance to participate in various ministry opportunities, many of which are listed further in the newsletter. Please pray for our students as they finish the school year and prepare for future opportunities.

Student Feature – Lynneah Andrews
“I came to Davis College after completing one year at Cedarville University. I had a wonderful time at Cedarville—made great friends, had amazing professors, and was blessed with a job I loved. But I felt as though I wasn’t supposed to be there, even though I was living the dream at a Christian college.
I decided to transfer to Davis College because I knew the Lord was leading me back to the Word of Life environment, which is closely tied to the Davis College experience in Pottersville, New York.
In my classes, the Lord is teaching me so much—especially things I didn’t realize I needed to know. God has opened my eyes to the fact that people need as much help as they can get—to rebuild their faith on a foundation of biblical truth and to counsel them in a loving and God-honoring way.
I chose to major in Religious Education with a concentration in Christian Ministries. I hope to partner with para-church organizations and, hopefully, serve in camp ministry. I grew up attending Word of Life camps and have seen firsthand how impactful they can be in the lives of young people.”
Student Ministry
Davis College students have numerous opportunities to serve in ministry throughout the year. During Snowcamp (as mentioned in previous newsletters), students serve alongside Word of Life Bible Institute students as leaders.
Outside of Snowcamp, students are encouraged to get involved in their local churches, participate in outreach trips with Word of Life (such as Open Air Evangelism in New York City), and join Davis College mission trips (listed below).
Please pray for our students as they serve the Lord with joyful hearts, eagerly sharing the Gospel and encouraging others in their faith.
Concentration: Christian Ministries
The Christian Ministries Concentration is designed to prepare graduating students for support ministries in the local church or para-church ministry, either in a staff or lay capacity. Graduates of this concentration will be prepared to serve as Sunday school administrators and teachers, Christian education directors, children’s ministry leaders, and women’s ministry specialists, depending on the student’s selection of electives in the program. The program is designed to provide the greatest flexibility for those seeking to be involved in various Christian support ministries.

Upcoming Events
Missions Trip to New York City
Davis students are heading to New York City on April 4–6, 2025 for a weekend of ministry and sightseeing. They will partner with our Brooklyn teaching site (French-speaking Baptist Church) and The Bowery Mission in Manhattan.
The pastor has entrusted Davis College with the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services on Sunday. On Saturday, students will volunteer at The Bowery Mission, serving and speaking with residents. This will be a meaningful time to connect with our Haitian brothers and sisters and serve the Lord.
Please pray for safety and fruitfulness during this trip!
Open Air Evangelism/Missions Reality
Our students are embracing impactful opportunities through Open Air Evangelism and Missions Reality. In NYC, Davis College students lead groups to share their faith in the heart of the city. Others venture overseas for short-term mission trips, serving communities and spreading hope. These experiences deepen their faith and leadership skills!
