A Note from Dr. Blanc
“Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” (Ecclesiastes 11:1 ESV).
This is an ancient metaphor with no modern parallel. The interpretation refers to taking bold initiatives and hoping for a future return on investment. The mini-proverb describes transporting a commodity to a distant and unseen location. There, it will serve a purpose, satisfy a need, and produce an outcome. It may be days, months, or even years before you see the results or experience the benefits.
This is how God’s economy works. This is how His kingdom functions. This is what it means to sow and reap in God’s harvest.
There are many ways to sow. Intercessory prayer may be the greatest. How many people reap the benefits of the daily intercessions of prayer warriors (Colossians 4:12)? Those who counsel and disciple sow as well—bearing one another’s burdens and fulfilling the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). At the risk of mixing metaphors, I’m wondering if there are any “cup of cold water” folks reading this? Jesus spoke about them in Matthew 10:42.
I was leaving on a mission trip some years ago. A retired missionary heard I needed funds. She sent a gift with the note, “This is just a cup of cold water in Jesus’ name.” That’s God! A widow will crumple a twenty-dollar bill into your hand and say, “God bless you as you go.” That’s God! We do what we can with what we have, believing God will multiply it, and the harvest will be evident after many days.
At Davis College, we “sow” into the lives of our students, believing God is preparing them to reach this generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ. What will we see? Souls won to Christ, and churches multiplied. In short, your cup of cold water matters.

Summer Break!
Summer break is here! Students have finished classes and are officially on break. It began on May 16 and will continue until they return on August 16 for graduation. Please pray for our students as many of them serve with ministries this summer!

Student Feature – Cendall Gonzalez
“After my second year at the Word of Life Bible Institute, I knew I wanted to further my studies in biblical education, specifically in Christian counseling. I researched other Christian schools, but one thing I was worried about was community.
I knew that Davis College had a tight-knit community since Word of Life and Davis College are partnered together. Since I had already established many connections at Word of Life, and based on the testimonies I heard from students about the opportunity for professors to pour into their lives, Davis appealed to me.
The Lord has been teaching me through classes to get to the deeper-rooted heart issues. I’ve learned that the point of counseling is not a temporary fix, but a deeper, continual, intentional growth with the Lord. Another thing the Lord is teaching me through my classes is the importance of truly understanding the gospel and the love of Christ. Every counseling situation can be brought back to the love of Christ and the gospel. I learned personally that Scripture is sufficient, and I do not need to bring extra opinions.
I see my time at Davis impacting my future through the counseling classes I have been taking. I believe that by studying how to use biblical counseling and its principles, I can apply what I’ve learned in various ways within the local church—particularly with other women and, potentially, my own future family.”

Student Life
Summer break is fast approaching! Students are diligently finalizing their schoolwork and studying hard for final exams. They are joyfully anticipating a time of rest beginning May 16.
A majority of our on-campus students in Pottersville will be returning to serve at Word of Life Camps this summer. Many of them serve in leadership roles, actively shepherding college and high school students toward their next steps with Jesus. This is an incredible opportunity to put their classroom learning into practice. We can’t wait to see how God uses each of them!

Concentration Highlight: Teaching English as a Second Language
The Teaching English as a Second Language concentration provides specialized training to students desiring to share their faith in closed-door nations or with immigrant communities in their home countries. The program integrates a strong Bible and theological foundation with studies in education, anthropology, and cross-cultural communication.
Graduates of this program will be equipped to serve as tentmaker missionaries in closed-door nations, TESL teachers as traditional missionaries in developing nations or among immigrant communities in North America, or to pursue graduate study in TESL.

Upcoming Events
Summer Camp
This summer, our students have the opportunity to serve with Word of Life Youth Camps. The five main camps Davis College students support are: The Pines, The Ranch, The Ridge, The Island, and The Coast.
Davis College students are highly encouraged to serve at these camps as a way to gain practical ministry experience. Many are also placed in leadership roles, making this an essential summer to grow in leadership and faith.
