The Davis College Falcons finished off the first semester in a dominating way as they took down the visiting Word of Life Huskies by a score of 81-56 on Saturday.

The Falcons offense has been hitting on all cylinders over the course of their current 6 game winning streak as they have averaged 85 points per game during the stretch while making better than 10 threes per game and shooting 44% from the field. In this game, however, it was their defense that set the tone for the blowout win. Davis would jump out to a 23-5 early lead and stretch it to 49-18 by halftime as they would not let the Huskies get going at all on offense. Davis would lead by as many as 42 points early in the second half before the visitors would respond with a run but by that time the damage was done. The Falcons would cruise to the 81-56 victory as the final horn sounded.

Kelvin Tompkins (South Miami, FL) led all scorers with 16, his season average, in just 20 minutes of play as the junior also dished out 6 assists and had 3 steals on the afternoon. Jackson Henri (Miami, FL) put in 13 points, Ernestas Puzaras (Kaunas, Lithuania) scored 12 points, and freshman Danila Belov (Moscow, Russia) had a career high 10 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Transfer Stephen Gibbons (Peekskill, NY) came off the bench and grabbed 9 rebounds, 6 of them on the offensive end, and Titus Geday (Ontario, Canada) had a game high 10 rebounds to go with 7 points. Davis College dominated the rebounding advantage by an astonishing 48-19 advantage.

The Falcons enter the semester break with an 8-4 record and a 6 game win streak. They will enjoy a long layoff and play their next game on January 8 against Luzerne County Community College at home at 8 p.m. In their match-up last season Davis won in a shootout by a score of 109-102. In that game Tompkins broke the school record for three pointers made in a game with 11.
