CLARKS SUMMIT UNIVERSITY
The Lady Falcons of Davis College took a short trip down 81 South to match-up with the Clarks Summit University Defenders on Monday evening, and came back with a commanding 72-27 victory.
Davis College has been rolling as of late and this game was much of the same as the visitors jumped all over Clarks Summit early and often. After the first quarter the Falcons were leading 16-4 and never looked back. The Falcons defense held the Defenders to just 18.6% shooting on the evening including a dismal 3 for 22 shooting from three point range. Meanwhile, the Falcons offense started slow offensively to their standard but got going thanks to Candace Winkel (Ocean City, NJ) and Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, NY) who both took over the scoring in the game. Singleton ended with a game high 22 points on 8 of 15 shooting to go with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Winkel, who leads the entire United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II in three pointers made on the season, added 4 threes in the game on her way to a 20 point night. Michaela McLeod (West Milford, NJ) continued typical her stat sheet stuffing as she scored 9 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out 7 assists, and came up with 6 steals. Senior forward Braedyn Mims (Calvert County, MD) had 5 blocks on the night and now leads the USCAA in total blocked shots with 33 on the year.
The Falcons (9-2) finish off the semester on Tuesday as they travel to SUNY Broome for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off. The two teams matched up back on November 7 when Davis came away with a 65-56 victory.
