Men’s Soccer Team Picks Up First Win of the Season

The Davis College men’s soccer team used a strong second half effort to beat visiting Penn State Worthington in a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon.

Penn State’s James Cole scored 36 minutes in to the first half of the contest and the visiting team held off the Falcons 13 shot attempts of the half.  However, the Falcons broke through in the second half as freshmen Austin Mousseau scored the team’s first goal of the day at the 51 minute mark.  9 minutes later senior Zach Willis scored on a cross by Mousseau as the home team took their first lead.  Just 2 minutes later Mousseau scored his second goal on a beautiful assist from Titus Geday and the Falcons took control of the contest.

The Falcons defense tightened up in the second half, led by brothers Morgan and Ethan Edwards and newcomer Derrell Calloway, as the visiting team had 0 shot attempts after 7 in the first half.  The victory also marked the first for Falcons new head coach, Tom Keegan.

Davis College returns to action on Wednesday, 9/6, as the travel to Penn State Schuylkill for a 4:00 p.m. match.
