LUZERNE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The Lady Falcons started the second half of the season hosting Luzerne Community College and ran away with a 87-49 victory on Tuesday night.
After a tight first quarter with both teams going back and forth the game was knotted up at 17 a piece. In the second quarter, however, Michaela McLeod (West Milford, NJ) and the Falcons took over the game as they went on a decisive run and outscored the visitors by 18 points in the quarter. McLeod made several big plays all over the court and the Falcons never looked back. The third quarter was much of the same as the Falcons stretched the lead to 37 by the end of the third.
Coach Ellis credited the defense his team played on Luzerne’s star player, Lisa Radziak, who came in averaging 28 points per game but was held to only 14 in this contest. Freshman Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, NY) got the defensive assignment and took it to heart making everything tough on Radziak as she shot 5-28 on the evening.
McLeod ended with a team high 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting, to go with 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. To go with her defensive effort, Singleton scored 20 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and had 6 assists. Braedyn Mims (Calvert County, MD) stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2 assists, and a steal and freshmen Alison Aten (Streetsboro, OH) was also in double figures with 11 points on 3 three pointers.
This was the 10th win on the season for the Lady Falcons to go with only 3 losses. Next up they travel to Tompkins County Community College on Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
