JEFFERSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The Davis College Falcons took to the road on Tuesday evening in a high scoring match-up at Jefferson Community College and came away with a 93-88 victory.
The Falcons came out firing hitting 8 threes in the opening 20 minutes but Jefferson matched it with some efficient offense of their own as the teams headed into halftime with only a one point difference in the score. The second half was an amazing display of offensive talent as both teams exchanged one big play after another. Near the start of the second half the Falcons used a 10-2 run to take a 54-44 lead but after a timeout, Jefferson responded with a 13-0 run of their own to take a 57-54 advantage. From there the game would go back and forth down to the last minute. With Davis clinging to a 86-83 advantage Jackson Henri (Miami, FL) hit a contested three pointer with 30 seconds to play to stretch the lead to 6. However, Jefferson’s Jerry Willis nailed a three of his own to cut the lead down to three. On the next possession, Corban Usry (Statesville, NC) of the Falcons avoided a double team and threw a full court pass to a cutting Ernestas Puzaras (Kaunas, Lithuania) for a layup to seal the victory for Davis College.
Usry filled up the stat sheet on what was his 21st birthday. The sophomore guard scored a game high 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting to go with a 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal. Henri, once again, was making plays all over the court as he contributed 15 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks on the night. Kelvin Tompkins (South Miami, FL) added 16 points and Duke Guo came off the bench to add instant offense as he had 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals on the night.
The Falcons (5-4) head into Thanksgiving break on a 3 game winning streak. They will look to continue that streak against Bryant & Stratton – Liverpool on December 1 at Davis College at 3:00 p.m.
