Tuesday night the Davis College women’s volleyball team came out strong and never looked back as they beat the host Penn State Hazleton in a USCAA matchup.
In the first set the Falcons jumped out to a 7-0 lead thanks to strong serves by sophomore Linnea Sweeney. The Falcons extended the opening set lead to 19-5 before finishing it off 25-12. The second and third sets were more of the same as the Falcons took both sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-12.
Davis College was led by Brooke Lewandowski’s 9 kills and 8 digs. Lynn Torres also chipped in with 12 points including 8 kills of her own. Newcomer, Erica Stockwell, had 6 service aces and Sweeney finished with 4 service aces. Jamie Brown paced the Falcons with 14 digs and Loryn Sanders had a match high 23 assists.
The win puts Davis College at 2-1 while Penn State Hazleton falls to 0-2. Next up for the Falcons is a home matchup with Word of Life on Thursday, 9/14, at 6:00 p.m.
