The Difference

Note from Dr. Blanc

According to the college’s PBTS/Davis College Alumni Facebook page, March 17, 2024, marks the 90th anniversary of the “homegoing” of the school’s Founder, John A. Davis. The same source contains the following historical reminder:

“This year marks 124 years since that first dollar was given that started PBTS (now Davis College). While the college in 2019 moved from Johnson City to share a campus with Word of Life Bible Institute, the mission and vision remain the same. The school is committed to advancing the Kingdom of God by training young men and women to be servant-leaders for Jesus Christ and to make an impact with the gospel. Thousands of men and women have been a part of the school since it started almost 124 years ago. Countless churches, mission organizations, parachurch organizations, families, and communities have been blessed by those who learned the Word of God at PBTS/PBC/Davis for over a century. We pray that God will continue to use the work that He started in the heart of a twenty-eight-year-old man in April of 1900 until Jesus Christ returns.”

This month, we celebrate an empty tomb! Can you sense the angel’s enthusiasm when the commands were issued to the women who attended the tomb, “COME, SEE, the place where He was lying. GO quickly and TELL His disciples that He has risen from the dead…” (Matt 26:6-7 NASB). Come, see, and then go, tell—invitation, realization, mobilization, and proclamation. I think I just outlined a sermon for someone.

Feature – Staff Spotlight

cassie cragg

My name is Cassie Cragg, and I am currently working as a staff member at Davis College, performing many different roles. As Assistant Registrar, being on campus allows students the option to have in-person interactions with me if they have any questions about classes or graduation requirements.

Another of my responsibilities is as an Academic Advisor. In this position, I have the opportunity to connect with our students through face-to-face conversations and provide academic aid and resources when needed. I also work as one of our Financial Aid contact persons for students to discuss their school bill and scholarship opportunities.

I am temporarily the head Admissions director, working alongside an outstanding team of student workers as we recruit for the next school year. This position calls for endurance and intentionality during the recruiting process, which is important for the next year. I have been challenged to step outside my comfort zone and try to connect with potential new students.

God has been gracious in placing me in these roles, as each one has taught me what it means to die to myself daily. I have had the opportunity to witness God work in our students this year and even been privileged to have conversations about where God is leading them. Being on campus has allowed me to connect with students and even guests who visit campus. It is truly a joy and a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a college that invests so deeply in the lives of others.
