The Davis College women’s basketball team won big on Sunday afternoon, beating visiting Penn State Scranton 85-45.
The Lady Falcons shot their way into the record books from behind the arc, with record-shattering 18 three pointers as a team. The previous record stood at 12 before Davis caught fire on Sunday. Junior Candace Winkel (Ocean City, NJ) and freshman Ali Aten (Streetsboro, OH) hit a combined 13 threes, leading the way to the 40-point victory. 5th year senior Elizabeth Bath (Ballston Spa, NY) added 3 triples of her own on 3 of 5 shooting from behind the arc. Sophomore Michaela McLeod (West Milford, NJ) and freshman Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, NY) chipped in one triple a piece to bring the total to 18 on the day. A dominant performance from start to finish included a season-high 18 assists as a team. Singleton recorded her second double-double of the season with 23 points on 9-10 shooting from the field (4-5 ft), and 11 assists. Junior Braedyn Mims (Calvert County, MD) continues to dominate on the defensive end, with 4 blocks on Sunday. Winkel added a season-high 23 points.
The 4-1 Lady Falcons travel to Jefferson Community College on Tuesday for a game starting at 5:00 p.m.
